Online Mobilization, check out our Global Map!
The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) is on a path towards adopting a post 2020 Global Biodiversity Framework at the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP 15).
Due to the pandemic, the CBD negotiations have adopted online modalities including holding the 15th Conference of the Parties of the CBD in two parts: One online first part in October, 2021 and a second face to face meeting in 2022. At times, civil society is invited, but it seems more for a show than for a real process of listening to voices coming from those rights holders and people working in the front lines.
For many members of the CBD Alliance, specially from the global south, it is challenging to follow the CBD negotiations due to limited resources and all sorts of barriers related to the privileged space the UN system is. The influence of private interests and those promoting false solutions keeps growing and thanks to their great amount of resources, they occupy central roles in mainstream media.
Despite this, there is incredible work done in the territories and in the front lines. The experience, wisdom and inspiration is amazing and should be respected, recognized and supported. Therefore the online mobilization brought our community together to support our efforts, amplifying the impact of actions, activities and initiatives.
You can check out the actions, activities and initiatives that have audiovisual material or texts in the Global Map.
